While electric cars have taken a while to come into their own, electric golf carts have a much longer history.

The first electric golf cart was developed as far back as 1932 but they didn't rise in popularity until the mid-1950s. That’s when they started to be mass-produced by the big names: EZ-Go and Club Car in the 1950s, and Yamaha in the late 1970s.
